The Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport guarantees a thrill of a ride

It is said the Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport was born on the racetrack and bred for the streets.
Set to bolster the range of the Corolla Cross, the GR-Sport will launch in South Africa soon and be locally built.
With pricing coming in at R453 200, let’s take a closer look at what Toyota’s latest offering will bring to our roads.
Right from the fitment of the ultra-aggressive front grille, bold 18-inch black alloy wheels, black roof, black mirror housings, black wheel arch mouldings and black side-skirts, the GR-Sport lives up to its forceful attitude and is also fitted with a specially tuned Gazoo Racing suspension.
The suspension is configured to deliver sharper steering, better handling, braking and more stability during extreme cornering.

Accentuating the classy interior is stylish black leather trim throughout, perfectly playing to the GR theme with the addition of red contrast stitching and red perforation.
These details are further complemented by a red accent stripe on the instrument panel, and piano black surface detailing.
A chunky three-spoke steering wheel with red stitching and piano black inserts finishes off the package.
Under the hood, the GR-Sport employs the 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE petrol engine coupled to a CVT transmission with seven pre-programmed steps to simulate close-ration transmission in manual shifting.
It delivers 103kW and 172Nm while sipping just 6.8 l/100km on the combined cycle.
The GR-Sport comes inclusive of a six-service/90 000km service plan (intervals at 15 000km), and a three-year/100 000km warranty.
