Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society helps fight drug abuse in schools

Newly elected TADA marshals were introduced to the pupils with a brief overview of the duties expected of them.

The noticeable increase in the number of drug related cases in schools has prompted the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society to again undertake a prevention and educational programme among pupils.

To promote awareness, the society recently hosted presentations over five days at six secondary schools in Tongaat.

Secretary of Tongaat Child Welfare and Chairperson of the Tongaat Anti-Drug Forum (TADF), Clyde Pillay, provided important insight into the drug issues affecting the Tongaat community.

Serenity Wellness Centre members ended the programme with a talks of their experiences with drug and alcohol abuse.
