Missing swimmer’s body washes ashore five days later at Zinkwazi

Initial efforts to locate the teen when he first went missing at sea at Blythedale on November 25, had to be called off owing to severe weather conditions.

Five days after going missing at sea, the body of a teenager has washed ashore at Zinkwazi beach.

The young unidentified man had been swimming at an unprotected beach at Blythedale which he visited along with family on November 25.

When family members lost sight of him, they reported the matter to rescue personnel.

Vessels were launched out to sea and a drone deployed, but search and rescue efforts were called off later that day owing to severe weather conditions.

Ongoing search efforts produced no results, until his body washed ashore this morning (Wednesday).
