Litchi Festival is on the roll!
This is the 17th year of the Litchi Festival, with the new venue at Avro Farm inland from Ballito.
The 2022 Litchi Festival is open – this year at a new venue where 250 litchi trees are now ripe for the picking.
Held at Avro Farm inland from Ballito, a stone’s throw away from Sugar Rush Park, the festival launched this week Wednesday and lasts for about two weeks until supply runs out.
Historically, the festival start date was around December 16, but organiser Heidie Smith said the litchis were ripening much faster this year.

Daily times for picking are 9am to 3pm. Entry is R160 per person, which includes eating, a tractor ride and taking home 1.6kg of litchis. Toddlers get in at R50 (aged 3 and under) but don’t get to take litchis home.
Extra bags to fill litchis with will cost R120.
Remember to pack a picnic basket (no cooler boxes or bags) and enjoy your litchis under the 90-year-old trees at a cost of R100 per car.
Bookings should be made to avoid disappointment.
