iLembe police cluster ready for festive season
Speaking at the launch of the festive season safety plan at the KwaDukuza Mall on Wednesday, Gopaul said the main focus will be on central business districts, beaches and high crime areas.
The iLembe cluster police commissioner, major general Anthony Gopaul, has given the assurance that sufficient numbers of police officers will be deployed in KwaDukuza during the festive season to ensure law and order.
Speaking at the launch of the festive season safety plan at the KwaDukuza Mall on Wednesday, Gopaul said the main focus will be on central business districts, beaches and high crime areas.
“By December 15 more police officers will be deployed from different stations to hot spot areas. I also want to thank the security and emergency services companies who will be supporting our crime-fighting initiatives,” said Gopaul.
Police then conducted stop and search, foot and vehicles patrol in different areas in KwaDukuza. Two people were arrested for being in possession of whoonga and dagga.
Police also recovered abandoned grams of dagga and a knife.
