Ashton College makes R20 000 donation to two NGOs at Debutant and Squires Ball

Donation recipients, North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and Operation Bobbi Bear, say they will use the funds to feed children and families.

While celebrating the achievements of the Debutants and Squires of 2022 who raised R40 194.67, Ashton College extended their celebrations to two NGOs by donating R10 000 to each of them.

The NGOs were presented with the donation cheques at the Debutante and Squires Ball recently held at the Zimbali Beach Club.

One of the recipients was The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund. Dedicated to taking care of orphans, the foundation currently channels funds and donations to 10 local small NGOs.

“We are grateful to Ashton College for selecting us as one of the beneficiaries. The money will be used to purchase food hamper vouchers for the first quarter of 2023,” said Orphan Fund coordinator Charmaine Premlal.

Operation Bobbi Bear was the other recipient. Based in Amanzimtoti, Operation Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation committed to helping and protecting children who are victims of sexual abuse.

“I really want to thank Ashton College for their generous donation. After the Covid-19 pandemic and the looting, we have been struggling to put food on the table. The donation will help us feed the children,” said Operation Bobbi Bear CEO Eurika Olivier.

Throughout the year, the Debutants and Squires worked determinedly by organising events, raffles, bake sales and other initiatives to raise funds for good causes.
