Breakdowns continue to plague Eskom, which was forced to introduce stage 5 loadshedding on Saturday.

Unusually high demand and breakdowns forced Eskom to implement stage 5 loadshedding on Saturday, which will remain in effect until further notice.

Power stations at which generating units had broken down included Hendrina, Kendal and Kriel.

The state-owned utility provider also said that unit one at the Koeberg nuclear power station had been taken offline for planned refueling and routine maintenance.
