Audi launches new beast – S8 TFSI quattro
The car was unveiled in South Africa last month with a starting price from R2.759-million.
Few car manufacturers provide a sense of sophistication coupled with pure brutal power the way Audi does.
Audi has now further sharpened its design and leading edge technology in its latest addition to the quattro family, the new S8 TFSI.
While South African roads may be dominated by hatchbacks and bakkies, this sedan does not ask for your attention, but instead commands the status Audi is known for.
Powering the S8 TFSI quattro is a powerful 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine, providing 420kW and 800Nm of torque – raw performance in the extreme.
The bi-turbo V8 engine does a standard sprint in 3.8 seconds and is connected to a fast and gently toggling eight-step Tiptronic gearbox. Thanks to an electric oil pump, the automatic transmission allows for gear-changing even when the combustion engine is not running.

A technological highlight in the S8 is its predictive active suspension which gives the driving experience in the car a fascinating range.
With dynamic mode enabled, the S8 shows off its sporty side as it firmly tackles corners, the body hardly dipping while braking, too.
Expect torque to be evenly distributed between the rear wheels during fast cornering.
This is owed to the standard constant all-wheel drive quattro with self-locking sport differential.
The S8 TFSI quattro also features a completely digital Audi virtual cockpit, with the standard head-up display.
This means that vital information is displayed directly in the driver’s line of sight.
It comes with a 5-year/100 000km Audi Freeway Plan.
