Ballito’s Thompson’s Bay beach reopened
Willard Beach, temporarily closed on Sunday following a sewage overflow when a generator at a pump station failed after loadshedding, was declared safe for swimming and reopened yesterday.
Closed on Saturday because of sewage contamination, Ballito’s Thompson’s Bay beach was reopened this morning after laboratory test results indicated safe water conditions.
The contamination occurred when a sewerage pipe burst in Simbithi Drive.
The pipe has since been repaired and water test samples taken yesterday gave the all-clear to allow the public back on the beach.
