Zimbali Lakes developers tease with R350-million concept mansion, the Oculus
A trickle downward in price, by only some R100 million, affords potential owners the R250-million Aurora, a 2 000m² mansion situated on the edge of the Lakes development.
A limited selection of properties within the greater Zimbali Lakes development will be going out on offer to purchase, but these will be by invitation only.
Prices range from R12.5-million to as high as R350-million.
The Lakes Resort developers, IFA Hotels and Resorts, noted that with the availability of only 22 Tatali Sky apartments and 20 Tatali mansions, property records are likely to be shattered.
The prime residence priced at R350-million is a 3 000m² mansion named Oculus.

Developers said the brief behind the concept was a simple one – to create aesthetically pleasing and unique designs with the objective of delivering the most bespoke private and secure residential offerings for discerning buyers who demand a world-class standard of sophistication and superior service.
Award-winning international architecture firms Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA) and Craft of Architecture are behind the designs.
SAOTA director, Greg Truen, said the design of Oculus was about enhancing experience.
“We took a mundane, functional route through a basement and turned in into an exciting journey that winds down a feature tunnel formed with opulent curves into a vast, tall oculus full of space, light and greenery, then onto the lower ground driveway with angled feature columns and a central crevice above that streams in an abundance of natural lights; while the gardens provide shade and shelter for vehicles.
“All of these elements combine in this experiential design to set a high tone for the rest of the development.”
Tatali, meaning Cascades in Arabic, is set for public launch in April next year.
Zimbali Lakes Resort is situated between the Tongaat River and Ballito.
