Blythedale and Zinkwazi beaches closed for swimming today

This is not sewage related, but rather as a result of heavy water flow from the Mvoti and Tugela rivers, which prevented the municipality from servicing shark nets.

There will be no swimming allowed at Blythedale or Zinkwazi beach today owing to poor water quality and a high level of debris.

This is not sewage related, but rather as a result of heavy water flow from the Mvoti and Tugela rivers, which prevented the shark nets being serviced.

“The Sharks Board could not service the shark safety gear due to the lagoon at Zinkwazi Beach running quite strong this morning and hindering their efforts to launch the service boat.

“The team is looking at launching the service boat at Salt Rock Beach tomorrow so that it can attend to the gear,” said KwaDukuza municipality spokesperson, Sipho Mkhize.

KDM apologised for the inconvenience.

Updates will follow should anything change.
