Nine-year-old boy drowns in Ndwedwe river
Reports from scene indicate that the boy had been swimming with friends in the river yesterday afternoon before he disappeared.
The body of a nine-year-old boy who went missing in an Ndwedwe river was recovered by search and rescue teams this morning.
Reports from scene indicate that the boy had been swimming with friends in the river yesterday afternoon before he disappeared.
“Search efforts began as soon as the incident was reported at 5pm and continued into the early hours of the morning,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Samantha Meyrick.

The search resumed this morning alongside Saps K9 Search and Rescue and the boy’s body was recovered and handed over to Ndwedwe Saps, she said.
“Thank you to all roleplayers on scene for assisting in bringing the family closure. Our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.”
It is sadly the fourth child to drown in over the past two weeks after a 15-year-old drowned in a dam near Stanger, a 14-year-old drowned in the Mvoti River and an 11-year-old drowned in a pool at Palm Lakes Estate.
