Missing Shaka’s Head man’s loan shark link

The missing man's family said Madikizela owed loan sharks some money and they had been threatening him.

A 35-year-old Shaka’s Head resident, Siyaniso Madikizela, has been missing since last month and his family believes loan shark threats may have something to do with it.

Madikizela went missing on December 6, but his family only became aware of it at the beginning of this month.

“We did not talk regularly because he did not pay much attention to his phone, but were shocked when a colleague called asking if he was at home in the Eastern Cape,” said his sister Phaphama.

She said they were told Madikizela owed loan sharks some money and they had been threatening him.

“We do not know if he ran away to escape his debt issues, or if he was harmed in any way.”

They family said they went to the Umhlali police station to report the matter, but were told they had to do so at the KwaDukuza police station. They have not opened a case yet, however, and are trying to track down Siyaniso themselves.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts can call Phaphama at 078 223 0163 or Nosboniso at 073 473 3873.
