Haval’s new hybrid grabs attention

The Jolion can seamlessly transfer between configurations such as EV, series hybrid, parallel hybrid and regeneration, depending on the driving conditions and the driver's preferences.

With Haval’s H6 Hybrid making it onto the top 21 list of the 2023 South African Car of the Year awards, much is expected from the manufacturer’s new Jolion.

A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the Jolion offers exciting and innovative technology which it is hoped will expand demand for luxury cars in the class.

The hybrid offers a 1.5-litre drivetrain which can operate on either electric and petrol modes, or a combination of both allowing for seamless and economic performance.

Coming in at a fraction of the price of similar cars, pricing starts from R549 950, making it an attractive option for many.

With safety a core focus for Haval, all models feature electric stability systems, traction control, ABS and an electronic braking system.

Topping the list in terms of safety is the fitting of an anti-roll system and secondary collision mitigation, uphill and downhill assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and rear parking sensors – a lifesaver for many in a bustling town where tight parking is often needed.

The Jolion can also seamlessly transfer between configurations such as EV, series hybrid, parallel hybrid and regeneration, depending on the driving conditions and the driver’s preferences.

Power output is 140kW and 375Nm, with the Jolion also promising a fuel consumption of as little as five litres per 100km, something almost unimaginable for cars of this size.

The driver is also able to tailor the power delivery system experience through a variety of driving modes, from standard, eco and sport to snow.

Super luxury models feature a 360-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and intelligent turning assist. There is much more to mention of course, so be sure to give this car a test drive.

A five-year/60 000km service plan, a five-year/100 000km warranty and an eight-year/150 000km hybrid battery warranty are included in the package.
