Golden Blue soccer team dressed to win
The Shaka's Head soccer team were sponsored a new kit courtesy of the Ballito Lions.
Shaka’s Head’s Golden Blue soccer team are now proud to be dressed to the nines, thanks to the donation of new soccer kit worth R9 000.
Ballito Lions gifted the club the new kit, which included 14 jerseys, shorts, soccer boots, socks, a goalkeeper kit and two soccer balls.
Team founder and coach, Nceba Nomdidi, said the sponsorship was an answer to prayers.
“I started the team three years ago with the aim of nurturing young talent, but perhaps most importantly to keep the kids off the streets as we live in an area stricken by high drug usage and crime,” said Nomdidi.

The team plays in the Cato Manor Soccer Association League as Nomdidi believes it will offer his players greater opportunities.
“There’s too much age fixing, especially in the development phases. Besides that, I believe there are better chances for these boys to be scouted in Durban.”
Ballito Lions’ former president Paul Naidoo said they were approached by ward committee member Simon Chetty and Shaka’s Head councillor Jetro Banda.
“The motivation was to get children off the streets and get them involved in sport. Ballito Lions Club supports these kinds of programmes,” said Naidoo.
