Ballito matriculant and KwaDukuza driving instructor killed in horror crash near Amatikulu
Two learner drivers were being taken to Eshowe for a driving test when the accident occurred.
Two learner drivers and their instructor en route to Eshowe for driving tests died in a collision on the southbound N2 near Amatikulu this morning.
Two of the deceased have been identified as North Coast locals, a part-time driving instructor and pastor Moses Pillay (45) of KwaDukuza and an 18-year-old Ashton International College Ballito matriculant, James Hunt.
The third victim, a 21-year-old woman, was identified as Darlene van Dyk.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Samantha Meyrick, responding medics found a horrific scene and immediately called for additional help to assist.
Confirming the loss of a pupil, Ashton’s Bronwyn Bath said they had learned with great sadness of the death of the young man.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this tragic time,” she said.
Ahmed Younus of Ahmed’s Driving School confirmed that the driving instructor and his students were on their way to Eshowe for a driving test this morning when the accident occurred, but could not comment further.
The three occupants of the second vehicle involved escaped with minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.
