Connecting the North Coast to the world

A delegation of international buyers who attended the Meetings Africa 2023 event in Johannesburg were recently shown first-hand what the North Coast has to offer as a leisure and business destination.

Enterprise iLembe and KwaDukuza municipality officials attended the event to promote the North Coast.

The two entities partnered with the KZN Convention Bureau and other tourism stakeholders in exhibiting at the 2023 edition of Meetings Africa.

“The show was truly bigger and better, with 352 exhibitors from 22 African countries and 362 buyers from more than 60 countries attending. Other additional new features were brought on board to improve and enhance the show,” said Enterprise iLembe chief executive officer, Linda Mncube.

The show highlighted current tourism trends and promoted networking aimed at empowering businesses. It also serves to boost Africa’s economic development.

“The biggest take-away was that the industry faces several challenges around sustainability, technology and finding the right resources,” said Mncube.

He said by joining forces the industry would be able to collectively tackle changes in the sector.

Also noted as a highlight was that no single country had solutions to the challenges, hence the importance of events such as Meetings Africa to provide a platform to increase collaboration while promoting economic growth.

The theme at this year’s Meetings Africa was ‘Africa’s Success Built on Quality Connections’.
