Late-night head on collision kills 3 near Zinkwazi, drugs found on passenger
One of the seriously injured passengers had a police escort to hospital after it was found he had drugs strapped to his torso.
Two people died in a head-on collision on the N2 near Zinkwazi last night and a third has since died in hospital.
Reports from scene indicate that a Toyota Avanza travelling south and a northbound Toyota Fortuner collided, just after 9pm.
The crash killed two passengers in the Avanza, both men in their 20s, while the driver of the Fortuner, an elderly man, later succumbed to his injuries, said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Dylan Meyrick.

A further four people were seriously injured and were later transported to hospital after being extricated from the wreckage with the help of the KwaDukuza Fire Department.
“One of the seriously injured patients was found to have a large quantity of drugs secured around his torso. He was transported to hospital under police guard,” said Meyrick.
