Woman in critical condition after pit bull attack in Seatides

The victim eventually managed to escape and ran to a nearby complex where she called for help.

A 33-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after reportedly being attacked by a loose-running pit bull in Seatides this afternoon (Tuesday).

According to Dylan Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue, the woman was walking home when the dog attacked her, inflicting severe bite wounds all over her body.

The victim was stabilised and transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

Team leader for the volunteer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and chairman of the Tongaat CPF, Nazir Sadack, said the woman was walking home from work to an informal settlement in the area when the incident occurred.

She eventually managed to escape and ran to a nearby complex where she called for help.
