Walking in support of a good cause
The 4km walk from KwaDukuza Mall was in celebration of the Stanger Training Centre's 40th anniversary.
More than a hundred walkers took to KwaDukuza’s streets last Sunday in celebration of the Stanger Training Centre’s 40th anniversary.
The purpose of the 4km walk from the KwaDukuza Mall was to raise awareness about this, the only government-funded special needs school in KwaDukuza.
The school accepts pupils with a variety of special education needs, including those with cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Pupils are able to stay at the school until the age of 19, with no typical grade system in place.
Under supervision, pupils are able to learn trades as varied as woodworking, welding, sewing, gardening and cooking which could all lead to future employment.
