Free Ballito Pro concerts draw huge crowds
As with the entirety of the Pro festival programme, the concerts were family friendly and saw support from children through to grandparents who went down to the beach to enjoy the shows.
The return of the Ballito Pro free music concerts to Salt Rock proved hugely popular with the thousands of fans last Thursday and Friday.
With wider space for the beach dance floor and better infrastructure for parking, it again showed why Salt Rock makes such a great venue.
On both nights event organisers estimate that around 4 000 people turned out in support of the fantastic performances by some of the country’s best artists.
On Thursday, local legend DJ Merlon headlined a packed show which also included up-and-comers Oscar Mbo and Dlala Thukzin and industry staples DJ Sox and Chynaman.
If not for the mandatory cut-off time for music at 10.30pm, the crowd could have easily danced until the early hours.
Friday was no different when Matthew Mole was the main act, needing just a drummer and a few instruments to keep the crowd rapt through his set.
Durban provided the stacked supporting lineup of Pro regular Majozi, Freddy L and The Southport band.
