Coalition boost for Democratic Alliance
The DA and IFP in KwaZulu-Natal signed a pact with service delivery as the main priority.
Chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal Democratic Alliance (DA), Dean Macpherson, believes his party has a good chance of winning next year’s provincial elections and putting up a strong performance in the national ballot.
Macpherson expressed this confidence during a DA public meeting held at Umhlali Country Club last Wednesday.
The purpose of the meeting was to encourage residents to register to vote.
He emphasised that in the national ballot, residents can only cast their vote in the area in which they are registered.
“Over the years we have been working to bring new hope to the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
“That’s why I am excited that we sat down with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), with whom we had our differences in the past, to work together. We realise there is a chance to remove the ANC from power and we put our differences aside,” said Macpherson.
Earlier this month, the DA and IFP in KwaZulu-Natal signed a pact with service delivery as the main priority.
The parties see this agreement as a successful cooperation, especially for by-elections where they won wards previously held by the ANC.
“Our common enemy is the ANC and EFF, and if we want to save what remains of this province, we must do everything possible,” said Macpherson.
“The DA and IFP are only 3% away from gaining an outright majority in this province. So, if we can garner an additional 3% between the two parties, we can form a strong coalition government in the province.”
