Milestone achievement for young Ballito author Shristi Ashmaya

The Reddam House Ballito pupil was excited about the weekend's networking opportunity with other authors and readers, from whom she hopes to learn and grow.

At only 12 years old, budding young Ballito author Shristi Ashmaya is now on the literary map.

Her action-packed thriller Agent to Hero, her first book, will be launched at the Durban International Book Fair held at the The Globe, Suncoast on Sunday.

The emerging talent said “the story will take young readers through a journey into their own world, the underworld, the overworld and planets beyond, filled with mystery and imagination.”

Shristi discovered her passion for writing six years ago.

“On pages stapled together to make a book I would write short stories about nature. During the Covid-19 lockdown, with lots of spare time available, my love for writing gained new momentum and my subject matter shifted from nature to the wonderful world of fiction,” she said.
