Devotees prepare for Lord Krishna celebration
Held at the Townsend Park scout hall, the event attracted more than 200 attendees for its Sri Krishna Janmastami programme.
The Ballito branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Sunday marked the start of its festivities leading up to September 7 birthday celebrations of Lord Krishna.
Held at the Townsend Park scout hall, the event attracted more than 200 attendees for its Sri Krishna Janmastami programme, the birthday or appearance day of Lord Krishna, who is a God in Hinduism.
ISKCON is popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement and was founded by his divine grace, Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami, who introduced the movement to the West in the 60s.
The programme comprised of various religious activities and a class by a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, his holiness Bhakti Caitanya Swami Maharaj, who spoke about the Bhagavad Gita.
Maharaj has dedicated his life to ISKCON from the age of 20 years old.
The program ended with a spread of vegetarian dishes.
