#LoveNorthCoast: Mission to promote brand North Coast

Support for the initiative has already come from large players such Zimbali Lakes, Siza Water, the Collins Group, Ballito UIP and others.

#LoveNorthCoast is a collaborative initiative of large businesses and entrepreneurs with the aim of creating a positive narrative, both locally and nationally, about the benefits and successes of the North Coast.

The movement is passionate about the premier lifestyle destination the North Coast offers, and has come together to showcase the growth, potential, lifestyle, security and other opportunities of the region.

“By promoting the area, we are telling people we are not Durban with closed beaches and poor services,” Carol Church, a member of the #LoveNorthCoast campaign said.

She pointed out that eThekwini metro had earned a bad reputation for, among others, the poor condition of its beaches caused by frequent sewage contamination.

This unfortunately created the false perception that North Coast beaches were also impacted, which was not the case.

These are the type of misconceptions #LoveNorthCoast will seek to dispel in future.

Support for #LoveNorthCoast has already come from large players such Zimbali Lakes, Siza Water, the Collins Group, Ballito UIP and others.

Zimbali Lakes sales and marketing manager Dave McGregor said they were proud to be founding members of the #LoveNorthCoast initiative.

“We need to do justice to this part of the country,” he said, speaking of Ballito’s potential as a leading tourist destination.

McGregor said key goals of the initiative were to grow the local economy through various efforts, while contributing to the creation of employment.

In addition to its promotional objective, enhancing community projects, especially those benefitting the youth, and addressing unemployment will also be a priority.

New partners, organisations and people can become involved in a collective effort by making financial contributions.

Church said supporting the campaign through its Facebook and Instagram pages would also be vital, as this is critical to the success and growth of the venture.
