Get ready, the 18th Litchi Festival is here!

Picking continues for about two weeks, or until the litchis run out.

It’s almost time for the annual litchi bucket rush.

Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, the Litchi Festival will run from December 16 at Verbara Estate.

The estate, about 10km up Glendale Road via Shakaskraal, boasts 850 trees that are almost 40 years old.

The trees should deliver about 40 tonnes of litchis.

Picking continues for about two weeks, or until the litchis run out.

The De Villiers family, Maddie, Brett, Monique and Charlie are looking forward to next month’s Litchi Festival.

Daily picking times are from 9am-3pm, and entry is R160 per person. Babies get in free and tots aged two to three only pay R50.

You are allowed to eat as many litchis as you like and take home up to 1.6kg.

Fun tractor rides are included and R100 secures you an extra bag of litchis to take home

No picking will take place between December 24-25.

The festival will also include food and beverage stalls to ensure a good family day out. No bags or cooler boxes will be allowed into the picking area.

To book, contact litchifestival@gmail.com or WhatsApp 064 763 6457.
