Unity through art at new Gallery exhibition in Ballito

Good art is not only pleasurable to look at, but connects you to the artists and their experiences.

That unity is unique to art and can spark inspiration, promote harmony and spread positivity, even during the bleakest moments.

As we approach the holiday season, The Gallery at The Studios at Lifestyle Centre is trying to harness that power to spread positivity for locals and travellers alike.

Their newest exhibition “hUmaNITY” runs from this Thursday until January 28, giving you plenty of time to marvel at the artworks on show.

“We are incredibly excited to bring you not only a selection of our top selling artists and The Gallery’s firm favourites but would also like to welcome some first-time exhibitors within the space,” said curator, Sarah O’Reilly.

Cape Town’s Kelly Gough headlines the new names and promises provocative works that carry messages about modern aesthetics, privacy and voyeurism.

Sarah Kelly from Howick and Siyabonga Skosana from Pietermaritzburg are also new to the Ballito scene and offer differing but equally exciting viewpoints.

The exhibition launches in conjunction with First Thursdays at the centre at 6pm on Thursday.

“The vibe and energy is amazing. Art lovers can browse the new exhibition while enjoying live music by the incredible Afritude and a bubbly tasting by Lifestyle Tops to get them in the festive spirit,” said O’Reilly.

“Thai fare from Soi 55, delicious pizzas from Pizza Bae’s 1967 Land Rover and drinks from Alchemy Bar will be on hand to make for an enjoyable evening out.”

Gallery opening hours are 9am to 5pm daily, with extended hours from 8am till 7pm from December 14 to January 6.
