Social club with a purpose
The club meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the Ballito Library.
The Wednesday Social Club is a worthy successor to a long-established Ballito ladies group.
The Wednesday Club, established during the 80s, closed earlier this year but has been reborn as the Wednesday Social Club, according to chairlady Filippa Heyneke.
Members are committed ladies of the community who meet monthly to socialise and perform charitable tasks.
“We continue to do good for our community by collecting jars of dried food for Vision 153. We knit teddy bears, baby items, blankets which we hand deliver to the moms-to-be and toddlers at the Ballito Clinic,” said Heyneke.
“We have fun activities such as quizzes, presentations, speakers, demonstrations, a book club, knitting, chair exercises and social get-togethers. We connect with one another and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat.”
The club meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the Ballito Library.
On December 1, club members marked World Aids Day at Ballito Clinic with operational manager Leeanna Dubru-Odayar and clinical nurse practitioner Kavisha Sukeri raising awareness of HIV in communities.
