Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening!

Be sure to have your camera ready next time!

Ballito has experienced some electrifying storms in recent days, including a thunderous few hours last week.

While the rest of us battened down the hatches, photographer Barry Bowditch spotted an opportunity for a stunning picture and set up his camera.

He also kindly shared a few tips to follow for any budding storm photographers.

First, place your camera on a tripod and set it to bulb mode.

Set your timer to five minutes and change your shooting mode from single shot to 10 seconds to avoid camera shake once the shutter is activated.

You can also use a remote trigger.

Set ISO to 100 and aperture (f stop) to f22 – happy shooting!
