Full house attendance at Ballito Junction’s private screening of local filmmaker’s movie
Avalon Cinemas and Showmax will release the film locally in July next year after its South African premiere at the Durban International Film Festival.
The private screening of North Coast filmmaker Mark Engels’ latest film, Masinga – The Calling, drew a near full house to Nu-Metro, Ballito Junction on Sunday night.

Community members who have supported Engels during the filming and post-production period, as well as friends and film industry associates praised Engels for a movie well made.

“It was interesting seeing Umdloti, our home and Durban scenery captured so artistically. The story kept us intrigued all the way through. Well done and hope it goes well,” said Umdloti resident Di Smith, whose home was one of the locations used in the film.

“Thank you everyone – so happy you enjoyed the film. It gives me courage for the future!” said Engels.
