Beacon of Care celebrates four years of good work

The Beacon of Care countdown to Christmas fundraiser put a festive cap on another year of good work done by the organisation.

Hosted at La Montagne’s Pumpkin Theatre last week, the fundraiser also acted as an opportunity for Beacon of Care to thank the people and businesses that had supported it throughout the year.

Those attending faced off in a hotly contested quiz competition, while some fun karaoke and talent show performances kept everyone moving.

A raffle for a trip to Mozambique was won by an excited Cindy Rynhoud.

As part of the evening, Beacon of Care handed out Christmas spirit awards to people and businesses who had supported them throughout the year.

The awards were handed out to Jess Dunienville, Linda Marsden-King, Nicki Vorster, Tiffany’s Shopping Centre, Wings of Hope – Mindfit Outreach, The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, Eric Hardy – Unifoam, Tiffany’s SUPERSPAR, Woolworths Salt Rock, Wim Oelofse – Westbrook & East Coast Pharmacy, Store-IT Shaka’s Head, Rotary Club of Zimbali, E-Club Rotary, Vision 153, Rise Up Foundation and The Ballito Lions.

Founded in 2019, Beacon of Care is a palliative care non-profit organisation that provides holistic care to patients in Ballito and the surrounding areas.

Patients that Beacon of Care assist are typically experiencing terminal illnesses and the organisation hopes to make them comfortable in their final days.

Family members of the patients are also offered counselling services to make the process easier.
