One dead, eight injured in accident near Esenembe

The driver of the car - a man in his late 40s - was declared dead on scene.

A man in his late 40s died after a head-on collision between a car and taxi near Esenembe this evening.

The accident happened just after 6pm on the R614 and left another five people seriously injured and three with moderate injuries.

Paramedics responded quickly to what was described as a chaotic scene, but were unfortunately too late to save the man who was declared dead on site. He was the driver of the car.

“IPSS Advanced Life Support paramedics worked to stabilise the injured and they are being transported to appropriate facilities for further treatment,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Kelsey-Jae Meyrick.
