Upbeat senior ladies stay active with chair exercise at Wednesday Social Club

Adding a romantic touch to the session, participants wore red outfits, enjoyed romantic songs, and shared chocolate and roses.

The Wednesday Social Club senior ladies love to move it, move it – but prefer to do so with decorum by sitting down.

They recently celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special DOSE of chair exercises at the Ballito Library.

DOSE, which stands for dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins, was introduced to the club by one of its members. Participants move their bodies, build their balance and get stronger and fitter while enjoying the social fun aspect of movement.

The class involves simple exercises that can be done on a chair, such as stretching, lifting, twisting and tapping. The exercises are designed to stimulate the release of the four hormones associated with happiness and well-being.

The club also added some festive touches to their session, such as wearing red outfits, playing romantic songs and sharing chocolate and roses.

The club meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the Ballito Library.
