Brettenwood community rallies for cancer with vibrant Shavathon event

More than 100 volunteers either shed or dyed their hair, raising R9 500 for the Cancer Association of South Africa.

Brettenwood’s Shavathon saw a vibrant display of solidarity as over 100 volunteers shed or dyed their locks on March 2.

Rallying together the community was able to raise R9 500 for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

“We were approached by Cansa three years ago to host a Shavathon, which we have done successfully for the past three years,” said Brettenwood events manager Samantha Subban.

The day’s activities included a live performance by the Carmen band and a market day in which residents supported local vendors selling delicious food and drinks.
