Big treat for flower club members at Simbithi Eco State

Special outing arranged to the garden of the late renowned floral artist and gardener, Rosemary Ladlau.

The Umhlali and District Garden and Flower Club’s March meeting was a special outing to the garden of the late renowned floral artist and gardener, Rosemary Ladlau.

She passed away a few years ago but her daughter Jane Matkovich generously invited the club for a visit to the home in Simbithi Eco Estate.

Briefing session for the guests.

The garden offers a vast expanse of lawn with orchids attached to many of the large, shady trees and a myriad of bromeliads, anthuriums, heliconia and various shrubs below.

Beautiful rose bushes are flowering profusely and have created a dainty frame to the large garden area.

A spectacular garden view greeted club members from every angle.

The homestead has been beautifully restored and is now available as a short-term rental venue for guests.

The club meets on the first Wednesday of the month. For more information contact Pete McClean at 083 357 1651.
