Remote car jammers nabbed at shopping centre

Alert security personnel picked up on their attempts to gain access to vehicles.

Two men suspected of using remote jamming devices to gain access to customers’ vehicles were arrested at Tiffany’s shopping centre on Tuesday.

According to IPSS security CEO, Frank Labidi, the two suspects’ activities were noticed by security officers at 16:45pm

“These individuals were seen attempting to gain unauthorised access to vehicles using remote jamming techniques, a tactic our officers are well versed in identifying due to their training and familiarity with such methods,” Labidi said.

The arrested men’s car parked at the shopping centre.

Additional officers were called to the scene to provide backup and the men were arrested.

They were handed over to police for further investigation.

To avoid becoming a victim of car jamming, Labidi urged the public to ensure their vehicles are indeed locked and not simply presume it to be so.

”Remain vigilant of your surroundings and alert security personnel if anything seems amiss,” he said.
