RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors lead effort to upgrade Ballito skate bowl

Calls for donations of building materials to help complete the park's upgrades and support the skate community.

The #sparkuptheparks campaign is appealing for donations of concrete, steel and other building materials for the upgrade of the local skate bowl.

The park, situated at the corner of Hilary Drive and Dolphin Crescent, has hosted numerous major skate competitions and is undergoing a revamp but needs donations for the completion of phase two of the project.

This will include the construction of a “flat track” that will allow less experienced skaters to participate and improve their skills.

“The skate community approached us with ideas to upgrade the park but we still need assistance in acquiring necessary materials to bring these ideas to life,” said original sponsors and project leaders RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors’ Kim Peacock.

The first phase of the project began four years ago when the previous skate bowl, an old swimming pool, was transformed into a world-class facility and vibrant hub of activity in Ballito through donations from local businesses and residents.

“Donations of materials such as concrete, cement, stone and steel would be greatly appreciated,” said Peacock.

The Ballito Skate bowl is to undergo a revamp.

Cash donations can be made via the RE/MAX Foundation by contacting cathy@remaxdolphin.co.za for more information.

“Together, we can create an outstanding skate park that will serve as a cornerstone of local recreational activities,” she said.
