Good food and good causes draw crowds to Give and Gather Festival
More than 500 people attended the event to support local charities.
Community spirit was on display at the Give and Gather Food Festival at the Scout Hall on Townsend Road on Sunday.

More than 500 people attended the event to support local charities and non-profit organisations serving communities across the North Coast.

The festival brought together residents, volunteers and community leaders to raise awareness of charitable causes and encourage support through donations and volunteering.

Organisations represented included St Vincent de Paul, Sables Creatures Animal Shelter, The Napier Centre, Cupcakes for Cancer, The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, Elderly Voice, Litter for Tokens, St Lukes, Restore Africa, IPSS Search & Rescue and Dolphin Coast Warriors.

The event highlighted a range of community needs, from caring for vulnerable people and orphaned children to environmental conservation, sustainable farming and emergency medical services.

Live entertainment added to the atmosphere, with performances by saxophonist Rene Tshiakanyi and pupils from Durban Girls’ College, whose marimba band, choir and orchestra entertained visitors throughout the day.
