Power failure causes water outage in Ballito
Siza Water is in the process of deploying water tankers.
Ballito residents woke up to dry taps this morning caused by a power failure at the Hazelmere water treatment works.
According to Siza Water’s operations manager Kobus Fourie, the disruption in power supply to the treatment plant occurred after three cables were damaged.
The affected areas are around the Avondale reservoir and the top areas of Ballito, Ballito Business Park, sections of Simbithi and Seaward estates, Simbithi Drive, sections of Leonora Drive, Santorini and Ocean Drive, all the way to just before Salt Rock, Mdoni , Hugh Dent and Umhlali .
Shaka’s Head phase 2, Brooklyn, Bogmore and Umhlali Country Club zones are expected to be affected at a later stage today.
“We have not received any update on when the power will be restored and are in the process of deploying water tankers to the affected areas,” said Fourie.
