Toddler fatally mauled by dogs in Upper Tongaat

A case of culpable homicide has been opened against the owner of the animals.

A two-year-old boy died from the serious injuries he suffered on Monday after being mauled by two dogs in Upper Tongaat.

The incident occurred while the toddler was playing with friends at his home in Esinembe.

Tongaat police spokesperson, captain Jasanathan Naidoo, said the boy sustained severe head and body injuries during the attack.

“The dogs’ owner has been identified and a case of culpable homicide has been opened,” said Naidoo.

In April last year a 33-year-old Seatides domestic worker was critically injured by a loose-running pit bull while walking home.
