DA and ANC in two-horse race in Ward 6 by-election

No other political parties to contest the by-election.

Next Wednesday’s Ward 6 by-election will be a two horse race between the DA and ANC.

The race will be between African National Congress (ANC) candidate, Silindile Ngcobo, and Democratic Alliance candidate Ayabonga Zwane.

Other political parties will not be contesting the by-election.

Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) regional supervisor for the Ilembe district, Paul Daniels, said there were 4 883 registered voters in the ward.

A party code of conduct signing was held at the Ballito Library last week. The by-election comes after former DA councillor Tammy Colley was promoted to the provincial legislature following the national elections in May.

Both Ngcobo and Zwane are long-time residents of Ballito. Zwane is the current DA Ballito chairperson, and Ngcobo has been an active member of the ANC, once serving on the regional executive committee.
