Yesterday’s N2 cash-in-transit robbery caught in action [WATCH]

Onlookers captured the video while parked near the Nyoni bridge between Mandeni and Gingindlovu.

A video circulating widely on social media shows the moment a group of robbers used explosives to gain entry to a cash-in-transit van yesterday.

The brazen robbery took place on the N2 between Mandeni and Gingindlovu at around 6pm yesterday evening.

Onlookers captured over six minutes of video footage from the robbery, including two separate explosions designed to gain access to the armoured van and its contents.

It appears that about 10 people were involved, using two bakkies to haul the stolen cash before escaping southbound on the N2.

Both crew members of the cash-in-transit van were injured during the incident, one of whom was shot in the leg and taken to hospital for further treatment.
