Four-year-old boy killed, 11 injured in Blythedale accident

All 12 people were in the same bakkie.

A four-year-old boy died this afternoon after the bakkie he was travelling in rolled on the road into Blythedale.

The bakkie was heavily laden with 12 people when travelling on the R74 towards Blythedale at around 12.40pm.

The exact factors that led to the car rolling are still to be determined, but it does not appear that any other cars were involved.

All eleven other passengers also picked up injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

“There were two seriously injured patients, two moderately injured and seven with minor injuries,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Samantha Meyrick.
