Bakes, makes and holiday treats at Palm Lakes Christmas market

Christmas fare brings residents together.

Palm Lakes Estate residents enjoyed a festive day out at the annual Christmas market at Mini Palms on Sunday.

Talented makers displayed their art, crafts and jewelry, and the toy stalls proved popular for some last-minute gift ideas. The Christmas market was organised by Cimaron Willaert and Cyndi Konar, who met on the estate and decided to start Slumber Teepee Parties.

“It’s great to see the kids run their own stalls, baking cookies and selling lemonade,” said Willaert.

“Because we are a closed community, most of the stalls are run by residents. However, we do have some outside vendors.”

Willaert and Konar organise events throughout the year on the Tinley Manor estate, including an Easter fair and movie evenings. Willaert, who emigrated from Belgium, loves the hot weather, the friendliness of South Africans, and most of all, the food.

She loves bringing people together and enjoys giving the residents an opportunity to showcase their talents, whether it be cooking, baking or arts and crafts.

One of the most popular confectionaries was the schneckennudel (snail noodle) made by Andrea Husslig and Matthew and Jasmin Verster, and the chocolate eclairs by Crystal Goodfellow.
