Protec Tongaat achievers recognised at awards day

Alumnus highlights importance of lifelong learning and innovation.

Protec Tongaat hosted its annual awards day recently to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its pupils.

The event, held at Tongaat Secondary School, honoured excellence in academics, consistent attendance and commendable personal growth.

Grade 10 pupils Chetty Ethan and Mhlongo Thabiso receive their physical science awards from Fannie Matumba of PROTEC’s national. office.

The awards day was made possible by the generosity of sponsors, including Altron, CASIO, FFS Refiners, and Tongaat Hulett, who contributed prizes for outstanding performance in mathematics, physical science and English, as well as for 100% attendance.

The ceremony also highlighted the success of pupils who achieved the prestigious International Computer Driving License (ICDL) certification and recognised all Grade 12 pupils with certificates of participation. Special accolades went to the top-performing pupils in each grade: Moodley Tharsarnia in Grade 10, Brijnath Dashil in Grade 11, and Moyo Khayelihle Shaun in Grade 12.

Lungani Simamane, Chief Navigating Officer at AMSOL and a proud Protec alumnus, delivered an inspiring keynote address. Simamane underscored the importance of lifelong learning and innovation, highlighting how Protec fosters a sense of family and community among its members.
