Family still searching for missing Sheffield man two weeks after disappearance

Perumal Pillay has been missing since the morning of January 3.

Perumal ‘Jason’ Pillay has not been seen since he left Tiffany’s Shopping Centre on Friday, January 3.

The 56-year-old left his home in Taffeni, Sheffield to shop at the nearby centre at around 8.30am and never returned.

One of his tenants alerted the family on Sunday evening and they have since tried every avenue available to them to find information.

After reaching out to everyone in their network, Perumal’s brother Poobie opened a case at Umhlali Saps on January 6, but unfortunately Perumal remains missing.

This is what Perumal was wearing on the day he went missing,

“We have been checking every unknown body that arrives at the morgues and they have taken my DNA for identification, but so far there has been nothing,” said Poobie.

“If anyone has seen him or heard anything, please let us know.”

Information can be shared with Umhlali Saps directly at 032 061 0333 – the case number in question is 01/01/2025.

Alternatively, reach out to Poobie at 083 845 8470.
