The North Coast Courier and PrintWild #UltimatePhotoShowdown: Celebrating creative photography

Top entries in the ‘Caught in the Act’ and ‘Around the World’ categories showcase the talent and creativity of local photographers.

The North Coast Courier and PrintWild Ultimate Photo Showdown attracted excellent entries from our readers. The competition was held on our Facebook page over the Christmas holidays. We were on the hunt for fun, inspirational, and creative images across two categories, and you delivered. Well done to all the entrants!

Caught in the Act was looking for interesting photos of people or animals captured being mischievous or doing the unexpected.

  • First prize goes to Marc Lategan for his surfer going the hammer throw at Willard Beach. He takes home one framed canvas (natural finish dark – 1,200 x 1,080mm) valued at R5,693, or a voucher of equivalent value from PrintWild.

  • Second prize goes to Bev Forbes for her quick shooting skills, capturing a King Fisher defying the rules at a Ballito beach. She wins a contemporary white frame (A2) valued at R1,372, or a voucher of equivalent value from PrintWild.

Around the World was asking for travel shots – both local and abroad – featuring landscapes, diverse cultures, or animal encounters.

  • First place goes to Eduard Louw for his dramatic shot of the playground at Qoqisizwe Crèche after the tornado that hit Tongaat last year. He takes home a Faceblock Wall (32 pieces – 150 x 150mm) valued at R3,663, or a voucher of equivalent value from PrintWild.

  • Second place goes to Therusha Chetty with “The beauty of home” at Seatides, a rainbow over the area. She wins one standard stretch canvas (1,200 x 1,080mm) valued at R1,879, or a voucher of equivalent value from PrintWild.
