Ballito Junction reports bumper seasonal trading figures over March and April

New stores, a loyal customer base and favourable holiday dates all had a positive impact on trading.

The Ballito Junction Regional Mall has enjoyed a strong start to 2025, reporting year-on-year increases in both turnover and foot traffic.

Looking specifically at March and April, the mall saw a 14% increase in consolidated turnover and 5% increase in foot traffic when compared with the same period in 2024.

The increases were driven by favourable holiday timing, as school holidays, Easter and a series of long weekends were all separated this year after previously overlapping and narrowing the windows for visitors.

The mall features a number of top tier tenants.

Although the mall recorded solid overall numbers, there were some categories that saw particularly steep rises.

Outdoor goods and apparel stores rose the most with a 224% increase, while jewellery and accessory outlets (172%), travel-related storefronts (144%), fast food and coffee shops (78%) and entertainment options (66%) all saw positive figures.

“These numbers clearly point to a growing customer appetite for lifestyle-driven retail, family-friendly experiences, and recreational shopping,” said Ballito Junction CEO, Geraldine Jorgensen.

The mall is constantly updating their tenant base and has recently welcomed a number of new brands, including Workshop17, The Pro Shop, Cycle Lab and Bluff Meat Supply, while the revamped piazza offers a host of food and drink options.

Currently at 99.7% occupancy, Ballito Junction will also soon add Huawei, Boa Beauty Bar, K.E.B Beverages and hairdresser – Out Flowcapante.

“Our tenant mix is curated through constant engagement with customers and attention to market trends,” said Jorgensen.

“We aim to fill retail gaps while offering value and appeal to the Ballito community.”
