A roof wetting at Seaton House school last Thursday marked a significant milestone for the newest addition to the North Coast education landscape.

The private co-educational school, which will eventually cater for children aged three to 18, will welcome its first intake in January 2027.

Founders, funders and prospective parents gathered to raise a toast to the significant progress made on the project so far.

Board chair Elwyn van den Aardweg reflected on the journey from an ambitious idea to a bricks-and-mortar reality, made possible through the collaboration of many passionate and committed people.

He paid tribute to both the funders who believe in the vision and to the parents who have placed their trust in the founding team to bring it to life.

Alex Anderson, a major contributor through the Resur Foundation, said the organisation was committed to promoting quality education built on a Christian ethos.

“It is exciting to see the school take shape and know that it will, in turn, help shape generations of children who come through these doors,” said Anderson.

Beyond the new buildings, there was considerable interest in the school’s forest, where invasive vegetation is being cleared and outdoor classrooms established as part of the developing campus.

The school also plans to extend its impact beyond its own pupils by supporting education initiatives across the district.

Central to this goal is a partnership with Khanyisa Inanda Seminary Community Projects (KICP), a KwaZulu-Natal-based non-profit focused on teacher development and improving education.

As a partner education hub, Seaton House will host KICP workshops and support internships in areas such as digital teaching and biophilic education.
