#MandelaDay: Get It Ballito Umhlanga magazine sows seeds for the future at three NPOs

Magazine staff led a big group of volunteers to plant veggie gardens and promote food security.

Seedlings, spades and smiles marked Mandela Day as volunteers dug in to grow hope for three local non-profits.

Sinikithemba Organisation, Siyakhula Crèche and Nkobongo Resource Centre will soon have flourishing vegetable gardens thanks to the work of the volunteers.

The three organisations, all beneficiaries of The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, welcomed the Get It Ballito & Umhlanga team, along with volunteers from the Courier, Reddam House Ballito, Miss Ballito and Miss Ballito Teen.

Volunteers Yara Moodley, Sunshine Ngwane and Diya Kisson.

The group spent their 67 minutes planting vegetable seedlings guided by Eduard Louw from Restore African Foundation and using donated seeds and compost from Starke Ayres and Living Earth respectively.
